Monday, May 6, 2019 Ray Of Hope Church participated in an event sponsored by the Elmira Downtown Churches. The churches tolled our bells at 12:40 PM one toll for each century the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris has stood in honor of God. To see the video of our participation CLICK HERE.

Veronica Floyd continued her presentation of outstanding LGBTQSAINE2ss+ women, in particular, The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, known as the "Six Triple Eight" was a groundbreaking unit of predominantly black women in the U.S. Army during World War II tasked with managing postal services for troops in Europe. We celebrated Advent Week III, the Rose candle of JOY, PRIDE SUNDAY IN THE WINTER. The worship was followed by a GAUDETE PARTY, many participants wore PINK and exchanged gifts. This was our holiday party. ** There are two important corrections in the bulletin Order of Worship; 1) The script incorrectly stated the book of Zechariah is not in the 1989 NRSV. This was an oversight during editing and was a copy, cut, and paste error. The reader was reading the text that was provided. The correct citation is the Book of Zephaniah Chapter 3, verses 14-18, on page 877 in the first testament in the 1989 NRSV. 2) During the first section of the sermon I incorrectly identified English as a Romance language. It was brought to my attention and I confirmed the information later during the day on Sunday, 12-15-24, that English is considered a West Germanic language, not a Romance language. We celebrated Jesus The Bread of Life, week 4 and the lives of two martyrs who gave their lives voluntarily so other people could live: Jonathan Myrick Daniels a 26 yr. old Seminarian who pushed a young woman out of the way and took a shotgun blast to his chest in her place, and Fr. Maximilian Kolbe who in 1941 took the place of a young father and husband in Auschwitz so the young man could live and hopefully return to his family. News Release: A Change In A Practice: October 29. 2022.
Dear Members and Friends,
On October 28, 2022 at the monthly meeting of the Ray Of Hope Church Council, we decided to stop passing the collection plate during worship. With this change, we aim to make first-time visitors and everyone more comfortable.
Instead, we will use the wall-mounted donation box next to the door to receive donations and offerings. Donation envelopes are available on the hospitality table by the door. Drop your offering/donation into the box before, during, or after the worship event. Additionally, the electronic links in the bulletin, on Facebook, and on our website are always available. We will pray a prayer of thanksgiving and sing the Doxology at the offering time during the worship event.
Those who regularly attend Ray Of Hope understand the church's responsibility of being able to meet our financial obligations, and we trust each person to use the available ways of contributing to the Treasury of Ray Of Hope Church. Finally, the Council understands this idea as one more step towards modernizing our practices.
