and on Skype: rayofhope26.

TODAY, Tuesday, January 9, 2018: We continue our awesome, exciting, and most amazing study on Revelation: The Book.  Tonight we will study the identity of the 144,000 witnesses in the Book Of Revelation.  The modern Jehovah’s Witnesses claim they are those 144,000 persons, or that within their “church” are those 144,000.  We shall critically compare that idea with the Scriptures.  After seeing the modern JW movement is completely wrong on that claim we will find out when they will appear and what can we know about them in advance.  You can prepare for this by reviewing pages 148-162 in our textbook.

You may start this Bible Enrichment class at any time.  Come even if this is your first meeting or your first one in the recent past.

The Book of Revelation is the crown jewel of the entire Bible.  In this final book one finds a link to every important Doctrine previously explained beginning in the book of Genesis.  Lewis Sperry Chafer explains it this way:

Each book of the Bible avails itself of the accumulated truth that has gone before, and the last book is like a vast union station into which all the great highways of revelation and prediction converge and terminate.  No complete understanding of revealed truth can be gained apart from its consummation in that book, and that book, in turn, cannot be understood apart from the apprehension of all that has gone before.  The last book of the Bible is the Revelation supreme. (Lewis Sperry Chafer, Systematic Theology, Vol. 1, page 60. copyright 1947, 1975, assigned to Dallas Theological Seminary, 1980)

The book we are using for this study:  “Revelation Unveiled” A revised and updated edition of Revelation Illustrated and Made Plain   - copyright 1999 by Tim LaHaye.  Zondervan Publishing House.  Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Copies of the book are available for a six dollar donation to cover the cost of each copy at the church.   You can also find it on Amazon very inexpensively.  We are using the 1999 edition.  It is available in Kindle formats as well as audio book formats.

**We do not agree with Tim LaHaye on every point.  As with any resource there are going to be biases and positions that are governed by other influences than the Scriptures such as denominational positions on theological, moral, and social subjects.  We absolutely do not agree with Tim LaHaye on matters of sexual orientation and gender expression.  The core of his work on explaining the Book of Revelation is sufficient enough to warrant our using this resource.  Areas were we may not agree will be pointed out during classes.

Theme of this entire study:  The Revelation Of Jesus Christ.  Who is Jesus?  This study will lead you to everything the Holy Scriptures reveal about Jesus.  As Christians this is the most important information we will ever want to understand.  It is inspiring, exhilarating, and will motivate the student / disciple into active service of the one and only True Christ.

Please sign on to Skype at 6:15 at the latest. If you go to our web site: www.rayofhopechurch.com you can make use of our new Skype button which will open your computer to your Skype sign on screen if you have Skype already on your device.

Come sit with us at the Table of the Feast of the Word Of God, come tonight.

All versions of the Bible are welcome, so bring your favorite(s) with you.

Cost for our classes?  There is no cost, or fee, ever.  Your tax deductible donations are always welcome.

You are as welcome here as Christ Jesus Himself.  In Romans 15:7 we are commanded to:  "Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God." (Romans 15:7 NABRE-2011)

Christ's peace be with you,

Pastor Br. Shawn Benedict

Often I am asked for a brief summary of how we received the English Bible as we have so many renditions today.  Here is a brief summary written by Finis Dake:

How We Got Our English Bible

Our English Bible is the result of 1200 years of work by all kinds of learned men. Portions were translated from the Vulgate, the Latin version, beginning as far back as A.D. 700 when Aldhelm translated the Psalms into Saxon. Egbert translated the 4 gospels sometime later. In A.D. 735 Bede translated parts of the Scriptures into Saxon. King Alfred undertook a translation of the Psalms but died in A.D. 900 before it was finished. Elfric translated the Pentateuch and some of the historical books in the 10th century. Nothing else was done about translation from then to the time of John Wycliffe, who made the first complete English Bible from the Vulgate in A.D. 1380. The next was a N.T. by William Tyndale in 1535 and the Pentateuch in 1530. In 1535 Miles Coverdale made the first complete printed English Bible. Then came the Geneva Bible in 1560, followed by Bishop’s Bible in 1563 and revised in 1568. The Roman church came out with Douay version of the N.T. in 1582 and the whole Bible in 1609 which has been used by that church up until now. In 1604 King James authorized 47 men to make a complete translation of the Bible from the original languages. It was finished in 1611 after 7-8 years of diligent work. It has been the most popular and accepted version of the English speaking world from that day until now. There have been several revised versions since then, and a number of Bibles in modern English, but none have been as well accepted and as lasting as the King James version and perhaps never will be.

As a reminder, our Ray Of Hope Church chapel is open for prayer every day and night from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.  (Closed 7 hours a day for cleaning and maintenance.)  The Blessed Sacrament, the "Bread from Heaven" (Exodus 16:2, Psalm 78:24, John 6:32, 41,50,58), the Bread of the Angels (Psalm 78:25), the Bread of God (John 6:33), the Bread Of Life (John 6:35, 48) the Living Bread (John 66:51), the Sacrament of the Eucharistic "flesh and blood" of Jesus (John 6:52-56) is reserved in both kinds (Eucharistic bread and wine) in the Tabernacle in our chapel.  Please know you are always welcome to stop in for a visit with Our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament, for quiet prayer, a quiet place to read and meditate, say a rosary, or just be.    Our little chapel could be your perfect get-away.  Who would suspect you were here?  If we see you in the chapel we will certainly say hello and offer a cup of tea or coffee.

Ray Of Hope Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc. teaches the Doctrine of Universal Salvation.  This is the statement we agreed upon in 2011 and added to our Bylaws.

“We believe that Salvation is a gift that God has given to the entire human race.  Romans Chapter Five explains this Doctrine of Universal Salvation.  One’s personal salvation is assured by believing in God as per John 5:24.  Salvation is best known through the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, and through rebirth by the Holy Spirit.” (Ray Of Hope Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc. By-Laws September, 2011  Lines 1141 - 1148)

Many aspects of Tim LaHaye's theology are not consistent with the ROH Statement of Purpose, especially on matters of sexual orientation and Gender expression.  We do not endorse many of his opinions.  These are noted during classes.
God knows all of God's works from the beginning to all time. (Acts 15:17b-18)
From the beginning I revealed the end. From long ago I told you things that had not yet happened, saying, "My plan will stand, and I'll do everything I intended to do." (Isaiah 46:10 God's Word Trans.)
